Motion & Reclaim Integration

I love adding tasks in Bullet. I love the simplicity and being able to throw a task in for any week or month without needing to think about when to schedule.
I additionally use a smart task scheduler called Motion, which automatically schedules/rearranges task in my calendar while taking into account my events/meetings/appointments.
Id love to see Bullet connect/integrate with Motion (or connect to Zapier) because at the moment I add tasks to Bullet for the simplicity & lovely UI; but then need to add those tasks again into Motion when I want them to be scheduled for me.
I’d LOVE if these could integrate so Bullet would be where I dump tasks without having to think, and then Motion syncs those task and does its job automatically without me needing to relog anything.
(Additionally, others may use Reclaim, which is a similar app to Motion. So if you do integrate 1 it may be prudent to integrate the other. I think both allow Zapier so that may be the simplest path forward).

I think starting with Zapier would be a good idea.
I haven't tried Motion but have heard of it - sounds interesting. So would you like a two-way sync where when motion reschedules it, it updates the date on Bullet also?

Hamish: Awesome on the speedy reply.
Yea 2 way sync would be amazing.
I've though it through a little bit and this is kind of how I figure it could work.
Task gets added into Bullet and I set to day/week/month/year, which then syncs with Motion by setting the "start date" for those tasks as the day selected, or the 1st day of the week/month/year chosen in Bullet, and "due date" set to the same/next day or end day of the week/month/year selected in Bullet, respectively.
Priority could also sync across too (that help Motion decided what to schedule when).
I think a 2 way sync on those three parameters alone would do the trick, cause if a task gets auto-scheduled/re-scheduled (either auto or manual) in Motion it'd update in Bullet, and if I migrate anything to another day/week/month/year in Bullet it'll be reflected in Motion too, changing the start + due allowing it to re-auto-schedule appropriately.
I also think this would be a good place to stop and just make it so "Projects" and associated tasks just don't sync at all. That way it could keep it less complicated.

Having said that, I have a solution idea for dealing with Motion "Workspaces" + "Projects" too.
So, Motion does workspaces + project management too (similar to Asana), but I don't think I'd want all my projects & associated tasks showing up in Bullet cause it might feel too cluttered, (but maybe some people would want that).
I think maybe sync Motion "Projects" to Bullet "Lists" and then have an on/off "visibility" toggle on a per "lists/projects" basis inside Bullet (that way you can just sync the whole lot across the board and let users decided what "Lists" they want hide or not.
I also think you could do it with an on/off sync for Motion "Workspaces" (kinda like turning on/off which calendars sync in many calendar clients), so that way projects inside those workspaces wouldn't get pulled in Bullet at all if you don't want them to, and so wouldn't need to worry about hiding/unhiding projects (Lists).
Another thought is maybe Motion "Workspaces" could sync to Bullet "Lists" and Motion "Projects" could sync to Bullet "Sub/Nested Lists". That might help organize it all in away that makes sense to both tools native set ups.

I hope that all makes sense.
There are some other sync-able fields that could work too like description, sub-tasks, recurring tasks, tags.
Obviously all of this should only be available for premium users to make it worth your time working on it.
I'd even go so far as to say standard task only syncing is Premium, and a new higher "Pro" tier would cover the full syncing (workspaces + projects) for potentially double the price. (I'd happily pay $50/year for all this).
And who knows, maybe you could strike up a partnership or referral setup with Motion too for added benefit to you, them, and users.

Renewed Raphaela: Thanks for the detailed context! I really appreciate you taking the time to spell it out for me. I do think that a 2 way sync makes sense.
I do wonder if it would be possible to handle this with Zapier.
That said, I wouldn't get your hopes up that I'm going to tackle this any time soon, it depends on how popular this post gets

Hamish: Yea I'm not sure how much of this Zapier would be able to handle, probably only basic task syncing. I also dunno how difficult it is to integrate Zapier (I studied full-stack in college but I've been a front-end dev & designer for a while now that I'm not sure about backends these days).
Don't worry, no hopes up. I know it's a priority feedback/request setup.
I'd of course love to see it happen and I think it'd be such a benefit to both Bullet & Motion expanding both to be the most powerful whole life management combo (AI project management meets minimal Bujo = mind off planing/scheduling for literally everything).
But that being said, yea, Motion is pretty new, so I can't imagine a tonne of people would even know about it, so this will probably not get many upvotes.
